I have three medals that he gave to me on his death, but none of them match that one. Very interesting piece and a fascinating link to the past.
I sometimes wish I'd tried a bit harder to get him to talk about it, but he was never a man of many words. One sad memory I have is of going to the cenotaph at Belfast City Hall with him one year and he was quite upset, not that he showed it, that there were so few of them left.
