Urgent assistance with car mechanics terminology needed.

Help! I am doing a translation into German for a friend (don't panic, I'm not asking for help with the German unless you know it) who had an big American Ford and has bought parts from America. The car is in the garage awaiting my translation as nobody can read the instructions. I am having a lot of difficulty myself as I am no mechanic. Could anybody please explain the following for me, to help me to make sense of it before I translate:
1.Use worm drive clamps... what are these? I don't know how to explain and they aren't in my dictionary.
2. Remove bolts at exhaust manifold to up pipe connections... Is an up pipe connection an entity, or is it saying something about upping the pipe connection?
3. Remove manifold to turbo y pipe... Need the sentence explaining.4.
4. Similar to above . Reinstall manifold to turbo y pipe... Taken together, these suggest the sentence in 3 could read "Remove manifold from y pipe." Or am I barking up completely the wrong tree?
Thanks very much in advance. These are only 4 out of 32 instructions, so I think I'm not doing too badly so far.

Screw/band (Worm Gear) clamps
Screw clamps consist of a band (usually stainless steel in the USA) into which a screw thread pattern has been cut or pressed. One end of the band contains a captive screw. The clamp is put around the hose or tube to be connected, with the loose end being fed into a narrow space between the band and the captive screw. When the screw is turned, it acts as a worm drive pulling the threads of the band, causing the band to tighten around the hose (or when screwed the opposite direction, to loosen). Screw clamps are normally used for hoses 1/2 in diameter and up, with other clamps used for smaller hoses.

2/ an exhaust manifold is a connected set of tube like this that bolts to the engine
http:// www.bul letproo ...ems/ header% 20dc2t. jpg
The up pipe is the end of the exhaust tube that connects to this by bolts
3/ a turbocharger is a spinning tubine that is spun by the exhaust gasses on one side and compresses the air going into the engine on the other side and so there will be a y shaped pipe between the turbo and the exhaust manifold so that the exhaust gasses can spin the turbine.
Does that help or do you need a bit more?
