No Mo!

Fantastic that Mo Farah won Gold on this great night for UK athletics. But how disgusting of his fellow runner in the red kit to spat on the track, and how relieved were we all when Mo narrowly avoided rolling in it? Ewwwwwwww!

Not sure why sportsmen produce mucus but I have always believed it is not polite to spit. It can easily be swallowed. It may even be illegal in public places due to the spread of tb. Why cant the sports authorities take steps to iradicate this disgusting habit, especially in football. Tennis players do not seem to do it. Unfortunately it has become a fashionable habit among the younger generation to copy the sportsmen.
I agree with johnny 37....I have never understood this "spitting fad."
If one is suggesting that it is due to dehydration following excessive exercise, then how come the body has saved enough fluid to lose in spitting mucus which contains very little water?
If one watches a football match, then even the substitutes spit when running onto the field even before they start to play.
Tennis players manage it.....golf players manage it ....squash players manage it...
No...sorry, to me it is just a habit......a bad one at that.

Totally agree Sqad. Totally unnecessary and repugnant! When I worked in the office of a large production company which operated 24 hours, it was disgusting walking into walk at 7.30am after the night shift workers had finished shift at 7am, trying to avoid huge amounts of plegm, spit or "quilking" (as my family call it!) I narrowly avoided slipping in it some mornings, there was so much on the bridge into the factory. In the end it got so bad the workers were told about it by the management!
