Why do they celebrate their independance from the British?

Noting the recent news coverage of British Jamaicans celebrating and waving Jamaican flags in celebration of Jamaica's independence, it got me wondering why do those who live in the UK celebrate Jamacia's independence from the British?

Have they not chosen to live in this country, have their children in this country, and some have never even been to Jamaica, and therefore are rightfully British, so why do they celebrate their independence from the British?

I assume Team Jamaica was chosen as an example, because the question was about running...and Jamaica has a strong team in the event.

Look, they're usually rubbish at the likes of swimming - don't know why - so these Jamaicans normally excel at running, can play a bit of cricket now and again, and that's it as a rule. So give them some reason to celebrate - they don't have much more to shout about, let's face it.

Oh, yes, and their bobsleigh team was garbage as well - remember?

Rankings are totally irrelevant - they've never won anyone a tournament - fact. The only thing to achieve that is talent - nothing else. So don't kid yourself on.
