This was on the news this morning, the worst areas being West Yorkshire and the West Midlands. Anyone know what these 2 areas have in common?

So, it's not that the word West then?
London has more Asians than West Yorkshire and the West Midlands combined. By your theory, it should be top of the list and it isn't.

Your theory sucks, try again.
I think it's a game

You construct a theory based on a racial prejudice but don't announce it overtlt

Then try to get someone to call you a rascist so that you can act out self-righteous indignation

I suggest we name it "Call my disingenuous BNP Bluff"
Is it 'cos Talbot's from West Yorkshire?
cos yorkshire folk are tight with their money and won't pay the premiums? I'm from west yorkshire and i hate car insurance companies.

As usual the Daily Mail is misleading.
That list is of Accidents where the driver has no insurance.
That does not mean those places have the most cars that are uninsured. There could be somewhere rural where drivers have fewer accidents where the level of uninsured could be higher.

“London has more Asians than West Yorkshire and the West Midlands combined. By your theory, it should be top of the list and it isn't.”

Not necessarily so, gromit. The figures used to compile the “league table” are percentages not absolute numbers. The “Top Ten” is as follows:

West Gorton, Manchester
Barkerend, Bradford
Newtown, Birmingham
Everton, Liverpool
Croxteth, Liverpool
Hockley, Birmingham
Tottenham, London
Smethwick, Birmingham
Whitefield, Bradford
Cheetham Hill, Manchester

Examination of those places will reveal that they are all inner city locations and all have a high level of immigrants (though not necessarily Asian) among their population. It probably (though not necessarily) follows that since those areas contain the highest proportion of offenders then a large proportion of offenders are immigrants.

But, of course, other factors should also be considered. Not the least is that immigrant populations tend to be more “clustered” than others and also the police resources devoted to the offence in question may vary from area to area. There is little doubt that in absolute terms “White English” is almost certainly the largest group, but I’m not really sure that this tells us much or that it helps at all.
// .. the two areas have the highest numbers of one legged people per 100 of the population. But does that correlate to driving without insurance - I don't think so. //

It does explain why they're consistently at the foot of the arse kicking competition leagues though DTC. I've often wondered why that was.
The more I look at the figures, the more meaningless they become.

It is NOT a list the uninsured areas. It is a list of areas where there has been an accident and the driver is uninsured. Therefore the most accidents occur in urban areas which have the more miles of roads.

/// A Bradford postcode tops the league for cash for crash scams and uninsured drivers. Honest drivers living in the area pay up to 58% more for their insurance as a result. ///

/// Police confiscated £150,000 of £300,000 owed as proceeds of crime from a former garage owner in Keighley (Postcode BD21) a few weeks ago. The money was calculated as his share in fraudulent claims for accident damage arising from ‘cash for crash’ claims. ///
Thanks for that link AOG. It shows that West Yorkshire and the West Midlands are not the areas with the most uninsured vehicles. West Yorkshire has 84,624 compared to 129,939 in Greater Manchester and 400,855 in London

If it is believed that this is based on police data rather than insurance companies then it is probably nearer to the true numbers.
The drivers are all too young to get insurance, as in 'go west young man'
Oh for goodness sake - I've been away for the past hour, desperately trying to negotiate a system outage.

I had NO idea that this was supposed to be a 'bash the Asians' thread.

dave50 - if you'd been clearer to begin with, I wouldn't have been all around the houses trying to work out what you were implying.

Next time, wouldn't it just be better to come out and say it, giving us all time to clamber onto our respective high horses?

dave50?

Are you there dave50?
Here's a thought....going along the same lines - which counties have the most drunk driver arrests?

I'd expect areas with high Muslim population to have the lowest numbers...because they don't drink alcohol (for the most part).

Has anyone got those figures?
sp......'I had NO idea that this was supposed to be a 'bash the Asians' thread'

Really? OP was pretty thinly veiled
Can I repeat something.......
