*** YES I KNOW THERE WAS A THREAD YESTERDAY ***
Anyway, my point is slightly different to yesterday's which, for some obscure reason, was in the Religion and Spirituality section.
What is the point in this guy carrying on? For a start, would any woman vote for him after his outrageous statement?
Why not simply resign now instead of being obstinate, and save any shred of credibility and self respect he may still have?

this Congressman relied on his faulty information being well-received by far-right Christians, and it has backfired on him - even the Republicans can't swallow this idea - good to know there are limits to their facile views.
The Congressman has fautlessly proven his Republican credentials by refusing to admit that he was wrong, merely to point out that his 'misuse of words' caused his point to misconstrued.
Tha boils down to - I'm still right, but because you didn;t like what I said, it's your fault for not understanding me, which makes me an ideal Republican, and I am a wonderful asset to my party, and the nation as a whole.
The Democrats must be delighted - right now they could put up a moneky in a suit as a candidate and win.
Hang on - that's not funny, the Republicans did that last time!!!!!!!
