Sky News - Target of Taliban attack

Sky news just announced that Taliban have announced that primary target of attack last night was Prince Harry.
So two Americans died and five injured during attack.

Hope they put a stop to him playing soldier before anymore people are killed.
Also confirmed he has personal bony guards, but they fear internal Afgahnistan suicide bomber will get him in camp. The same camp many on here last night described as a safe place to be ...lol

Of course, he was the primary target.

He was simply nowhere near the place they attacked......The 'insurgents' attacked Camp Leatherneck rather than Camp Bastion; an important difference but I suppose you really have to know what you are talking about to appreciate it.
The American guards should have been more vigilant, I suppose.

Bastion is still safe and so is Harry.

Jack answer a simple question for me then.
If Harry had not been at the camp, would it have been attacked last night ?
Sky News reporter stated Taliban source that passed on information was trusted and had always been reliable in the past, other than a little exaggeration , but that is to be expected.

The Taliban don't run their proposed attacks passed me before they carry them out, so I'm sorry that I can't answer that.......

Perhaps they wouldn't have. But in any case, I would have expected the highly trained American Marines to have been able to deal with these 'insurgents'.

Taliban announced attack was two phases.
One to hit American part of camp, to cause disruption.
Second to attempt to capture Harry or kill him at accommodation part of camp.
Regardless of how futile attack was , if attack was aimed at getting him , two American soldiers died in attempt.
An attempt , suicidal as it was , that would not have happened if he had not been there ?
Or would they have attacked regardless ?

That's not what has just been said on BBC news. The attacks planned had nothing to do with Harry but was to coincide with the protest regarding the video of Muhammed.

They have reported that the attack was linked to the recent film about wots-his-name.

you really don't like the Royal family do you. he is not playing at being a soldier, he is one, and to be out in Afghanistan was his aim, having been there before, where his cover was blown by the media,

BBC news report.

Prince Harry was at Camp Bastion in southern Afghanistan at the time of an attack by the Taliban in which two US marines were killed.

A Taliban spokesman told the BBC the attack on the base in Helmand was in revenge for a film mocking Islam.

US officials said small arms, rockets and mortars were used to attack the perimeter of the British base, home to troops from several countries.
