Sick.................
cowardly trolls.......who are not worth discussing
I have been waiting all day for someone to start this thread - didn't want to kick it off, i have been too busy at work to write something properly.

I see this purely and simply as the downside of free speech and mass media.

Years ago, the Self-Righteous Brothers would all meet up in the Bigot's Arms and try to out-do each other with how worked up they could get by a perceived wrong-doing by the police to an upstanding citizen who loved his muvver and that ...

No problem, like minds speak to like minds, agree with each other, and go home happy.

Now they have a computer each, and access to a platform for their numpty views.

The best the rest of us can do is simply ignore them - giving them an argument only increases their self of correctness, and solves nothing.

It upsets and offends people - but as I say, it is part of free speech, albeit nasty and ill-formed, but tl deny everyone a voice for their views, however repugnant, takes away the freedoms of us all, so we must put up with it and move on.
to put up a page like this is horrible and people who think that is funny or clever or he was i any way justified in murdering two people, are not people i want to know

but they have a right to their opinion however pathetic, stupid, sick and twisted it is

i don't think pages like this should be allowed its, truly vile and disrespectful and the law does need and overhaul when it comes to trolls
sick internet trolls. b ollocks to freedom of speech. He is a murdering scumbag.
Sadly, this is a way of life now - it was also done for the thug who blinded PC Rathband.
second man has been arrested - an accomplice who drove him away from the scene perhaps, what vile creatures.
They are expressing their opinion.......sick as it may be,
....MY opinion is that now the authorities have the ability to trace these internet trolls (for want of a better word) I hope they do it with this lot and that they get what they deserve.
But have they broken any law?
But what do they deserve Baldric?

Free speech means just that - the right to express a viewpoint, however abhorent that may be.

To start to censor people simply becaause their views differ from the majority goes against the very essence of freedom.

That becomes a route into John Wyndham territory - 'respect the Norm ...'
hold your horses here, freedom of expression, speech, if i write a piece on Islam, negative, somewhat inflammatory perhaps, how long will it stay on here, or another forum on the internet, not long i am sure. So if the trolls can speak their bile, why cannot others who criticise Islam, wouldn't you call that double standards.
They have a right to express their views no matter how abhorrent we might find them.

They are not inciting hatred or violence.

One day, one of us might want to express a view that most other people don't like.

In the UK we can. In Pakistan or Iran we probably can't.

In UK, people can chant abuse at returning soldiers
In Pakistan or Iran people doing that would be imprisoned, tortured, killed.

That is an important difference and a good reason for being happy to be British and not Pakistani or Iranian
em

perhaps a relevant comparison ...

there are lots of articles this week about Salman Rushdie; how brave he has been, how awful the fatwah is etc

I don't think any have been removed for fear of upsetting muslims
In the UK you cannot criticise Islam, we have seen that often enough, flag burning is the least of it. Salman Rushdie is still in fear of his life. He may go out and about, and said that freedom to him is everything, but a cleric has upped the bounty, so if someone bumps him off would you say that was freedom of expression.
I think you will find the page on fb has been removed.
Good
em10 - surely we should look at educating others to our appreciation of free speech, rather than apeing their tendency towards repression.

I would rather them rise to our levels of freedom, than us lower to theirs.

he has had this fatwa hanging over his head for 23 years, much of that time he has had to watch his back. Someone on here posted that absurd video i believe, the thread was pulled sharpish. I reckon that people are stupidly pussyfooting around this issue of freedom of speech, it seems fine for some but not for others.
<In the UK you cannot criticise Islam>

yes you can. who says you can't?

as self expression goes, i think killing someone is a little extreme and conflicts with other laws as indeed does racist expressions, inciting violence etc
