What I did today, by JJ, Infant 3
Today it was sunny and I had to go to London. Poo, I thought. London is ponky and horrid.
In London, I met a nice lady who gives me money to drink and gamble and visit my boyfriend for sex.
After I had seen the nice lady, I walked up the busy road to a place called Starbucks. I like Starbucks in Marylebone because you can sit at a table with strangers, and get WiFi on your iPad. This makes the people wonder if you are doing important business, because they can't see that you are just looking at AnswerBank. With my power suit on, this made me feel important, even though I was just drifting aimlessly for the rest of the day.
Well, I clicked on the Good Morning thread. That morning, after I had gone to get the train with all the ponky commuters, DTCrosswordfan had posted that, if he was in Marylebone, he would go to Odin's.
Ooh, how exciting! I thought, wondering if I was sometimes too easily pleased?
Taking my coffee with me (JJ is a bit of a pleb, and likes her coffee in a cardboard cup, even when she is drinking "in") I walked up the road, past Daunt's, the nicest shop in the world (not counting Harvey Nichols, obviously). I turned into Devonshire Street, and there was Odin's. I pressed my nose against the window, a habit which annoys restaurant owners, especially in the winter when a lot of people have runny noses.
I thought Odin's looked quite jolly, with paintings all over the walls. No, I mean seriously ... ALL OVER the walls, right up to the ceiling. There were white table cloths, and comfy looking chairs, and waiters with long aprons that looked a bit French.
I took out my state of the art iPhone5. Okay, okay ... I actually took out my battered old Nokia, but the principle is the same. Can you get out at lunch time? I said to my friend. Yaay, and woo hoo. Meet me in Daunts, I'll take you for lunch.
I've lost the thread of this ...err, thread.
Do you want to know what we had for lunch? At Odin's :0)
Thank you for pointing me that way. I've never been before, and it was jolly.

Did you look next door at Langans - similar but there is something much more Bohemian about Odins. Its great fun and attracts a good crowd - and good for people watching too.
Know the Pot au Poule in South Ken (Ebury St)? Now that is fun especially if "tu peut parler un peu en francais" to establish some rapport! Good food and excellent for the people watch!
