After reading numerous reports of stabbings, gun crime, and gang warfare, etc, among young blacks, it is so refreshing to read this report of a very brave black lad who burst into a burning house to rescue this infant.
Well done Nelson

AOG is highlighting an act of bravery - why the sarcasm?
friedgreento mato - I assume you are a black male teenager given that you feel insulted.

How on earth did he belittle him sandy, I see nothing wrong in aog's post, I also think he was a very brave young black lad - which sets him apart from the usual stories we read and hear of the black culture on our streets - no doubt the same praise would be heaped on a white skinhead in the same circumstances - I found it enlightened.

I'm going to word this very carefully, because I believe this is a point that should be noted.
Certain posters on AB (me included) come with 'baggage'. That baggage means that others will pre-suppose the thrust behind your questions.
As I've already mentioned, I am guessing that you had honourable intentions with your post, but the baggage you have made people narrow their eyes and peer through your words.
It is a nice positive story, but...and this is what I was trying to articulate earlier...it doesnt seem right to juxtapose this one-off act of bravery against stories of mugging and black gang culture.
The natural juxtaposition would be stories of young black students passing their 'A' levels and going on to study at college or Uni. Unfortunately, there is no news value in telling those stories...but there are hundreds of thousands of teenagers doing just that - and they far outnumber those running around in gangs or indeed those risking their lives to save others from house fires.

/// "...numerous reports of stabbings, gun crime, and gang warfare, etc, among young blacks..."
Why mention that if the purpose of your post wasn't to belittle a brave youngster. ///
Typing extremely slow once again, so as to give time for it to sink in.
Because Sandy I was not belittling him, I was simply making a comparison, between this brave black lad and those other young black thugs, that seem to get in the news.
So how on Earth can that possibly be belittling 'HIM'?
Damming those others maybe, but never belittling such as him.

/// There's stabbings, gun crime, and gang warfare amongst white people. ///
Thanks for that snippet of information, one is never too old to learn it seems.
I will have to wait until a story of a brave young white lad comes along now, so that I can then make a similar comparison.
At least there shouldn't be any trouble by using the word 'white'.

Yes - its 'man bites dog' - that would be a headline, but 'dog bites man' is a non-story.
The point I was laboriously trying to put across, is that there are thousands of 'juxtaposition' stories which can be used to contrast against gang culture, but they don't make the news. We should be careful not to think of this as a single example against the dozens of stories we read about gang warfare, when there and hundred...no, thousands of stories of everyday 'heroes' who create and run workshops, after schools activities and volunteer in their local communities...

This 16year old young man went into a burning house full of black smoke sp, that is an act of bravery - cannot be compared to voluntarily running a workshop and after school activities, although these are very commendable actions and a hugh asset to the communities - and I would be amongst the first to salute these people.

What are you actually saying sp, that the media should ignore these killings just to state that 'Leroy' came top in his class?
/// The natural juxtaposition would be stories of young black students passing their 'A' levels and going on to study at college or Uni. Unfortunately, there is no news value in telling those stories...////
Now I wonder why that can be?
But you have answered that yourself.
/// there are hundreds of thousands of teenagers doing just that - and they far outnumber those running around in gangs ///
Exactly that is why a murder is a much more worthy News Item, whether or not it is on BBC News Channel, The Daily Mail, The Guardian or The Evening Standard, than a much more common happening, such as you have laid out.

Once "they've" got it in for you AoG they won't let it go. It's mob rule here as well as in some parts of the UK (well you know what I mean) and unless you conform to "their" thoughts and on "their" terms, they won't let it rest (infamy, infamy...they've gorrit in for me...tra la).
Good for you for the post AoG, one wonders what reaction this post would have got if it had been started by somone they rarely have a go at.....<sighs>

Thank you for that daisya, but don't worry I feel that I am much more superior to them, they are so childish.
But please be careful your support is not removed, it is not encouraged ion this site.
They have frightened many of new ABers on here enough for them to shy away from contributing any longer, but they won't do that to me, I am built of much stronger stuff, you know the 'stiff upper lip and all that'.
