It appears Ken doesn't like democracy, or he considers himself better than the people.

Well he would wouldnt he...being about as pro europe as you can possibly get.

Brussels were over the moon when Cameron selected him for cabinet (albeit without portfolio).......how much closer to the top could you possibly get a spy in the camp , so to speak.
This is more about DC than Ken . We know how wishy washy Ken is on crime and the EU . DC is far more pro Europe than most of the country.
All this talk about re-negotiating our position in Europe . He knows we can't do it because they wouldn't let us, end of story. The next thing we will get from him is "I tried ".
The only way to get anything done is to do a Thatcher and say No ! or do a Sarcozy just go your own way.

Pointing out that a referendum is not the most effective instrument for determining leglislation is hardly anti- democratic, unless you think that all legislation should be decided by a referendum?
The Europhiles in all parties are terrified of a referendum, they know the majority think the whole EU project is an expensive farce and given half a chance would vote to leave. This week Georgey boy said he'd like to save 10billion on benefits, well George do that by all means but you can save another 12 by dumping that bunch of nepotistic buffoons across the Channel.
"they know the majority think the whole EU project is an expensive farce and given half a chance would vote to leave2

i think most people see it for what it is an empire/superstate/eussr/ building excercise, whatever you want to call it, where GB becomes a province to provide finance and resources to brussells.

where we are ruled by and from brussels, and we would only make local bye laws all main legislation coming from brussells.

A little bit of harmonisation here and a little bit there until eventually, they have complete control over us.

Its all being carefully planned and manipulated by the EU power brokers.

If I'd have said the same 25 years ago, a lot of people would have dismissed it , but now its a case of told you so.

they will keep on going until they get what the want, and the last thing they want is countries to hold yes or no, in or out referendums until they think they will be virtually a 100% for yes.

look at Maschtricht...how may votes did some countries have until they got the yes vote they wanted.
Maybe it's just me but I've always been of the opinion that both the Germans & the French could not beat us in past conflicts so have now ganged up with the EU plot to make us bow to their will. Sooner we are out of it the better as far as I am concerned.

WR.
i thought you meant Ken Livingstone.
he is entitled to his views, same as we are. I don't happen to believe in much of the EU, or what it stand for, but it is possible we would be better in than out, no one knows until we leave, which i doubt will ever happen.
