I wonder if the teacher who absonded to france with his underage girlfriend will be treated so leniently?

Guilty to sexual activity with child.
Guilty to sexual activity with his 17 year old brother.
Guilty of becoming pregnant with one or the other.
Guilty of having an abortion at the NHS expense..
Guilty of supplying cannabis and possession of the drug.
Guilty of sending indecent pictures and text messages to a child.

The sentence:

Nine-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, and she must also sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for ten years.

I tend to agree with the boy's father when he said,

/// He said: 'If it had been the other way around and this was a man having sex with a 15-year-old girl, he would have been locked up, without a shadow of a doubt. But, because she is a woman, she has walked free" ///

Really badly worded question. Your use of the word 'guilty' is confusing, because having a sex with a 17 year old isn't an offence, nor is having an abortion, nor is becoming pregnant.

And here's the thing - a man might be treated differently (although others have shown you examples of where they aren't), but could it be because there's still that lingering "Well done son" attitude when it comes to 15 year old boys having sex which (hypocritically) isn't applied to girls?

Do we ever encourage girls to 'sow their wild oats'?

Is there a male equivalent to the word '***' or '***'?
I think the male equivalent is probably '***'.
i'm guilty of eating to much cake today

do i need to be locked up?
did you say blocked up?
that's not a bad idea jno

/// I wouldn't personally have objected if she'd been locked up, but I suspect that would simply have punished her own family. ///

That sounds like it's coming from the European Court of Human Rights, are we not to send criminals to jail now because it affects their family's lives?
no, it's common sense: throw a mother inside for a year and you have motherless kids for a year and - potentially - more young criminals a few years down the line.

Not sure I'd fancy being one of her kids even now, though.

In your opinion maybe, but I was only listing the things she was guilty of, not what were criminal offences, you must learn to tread what is actually there, not what you would wish to be there.

AOG - who are you to judge what this woman is "guilty" off?
*of*
My wife was guilty of getting pregnant, and then she reoffended a couple of years later. A prison spell would have sorted that out and no mistake.
Ah that would make you guilty of aiding and abetting Octavius.
I trust it wasn't with a 15-year-old, Octavius. Or his brother.

The word guilty has connotations associated it with, and when you follow up a list of 'Guilty of...' with 'The sentence' it is natural for the reader to infer that you are including all the actions in the previous clauses.

The sentence that was handed down was not based on her having an abortion on the NHS or having sex with a 17 year old or even for getting pregnant. They dilute the question.

I am not, she is already guilty of carrying out these things, I was merely duplicating them, please read the article.

After you have done so, can you still confirm that she is not guilty.
She has had sex with a 17 year old, and an abortion, but she is not 'guilty' of doing those things.
