Why do we want Jordan to grant him a pardon? I thought the idea was to get shot of him!
If he had been granted a pardon Jordan would no longer be interested in him and he could remain in the UK forever.

That a senior judge thinks the case against him doesn't appear to merit the charge , gives a clue as to why a pardon was suggested. We don't like the idea of evidence obtained by torture being admitted, either. But anything will do, provided the man gets to Jordan.
