Cameron has insisted he would seize advantage of the raging euro crisis to grab back the right of the British people to rule their own country, he says demand repatriation of power over just about every issue that vexes British voters — law and order, immigration, welfare and the economy.

Brussels needs Britain to help save the whole structure, not just the single currency, from collapsing in ruins. We are in an excellent bargaining position.

He talks the talk, but will he walk the walk ?

no.....he a useless twonk who spouts rubbish. anyone remember the big society? now the election is done and he's in power, it's all forgotten....except for the fact that he is busy destroying the public sector and charities.
Let's hope so YMB, he can test the water very quickly by stopping paying for a start.

LC, The problem is that he has not cut the public sector anywhere near enough.

blair recruited 800 000 extra civil servants when the civil service was working fine just to buy votes. We dont need such jobs a 5 a day co ordinators and the such like.

The problem arises becasue lefties in the civil service want to make a point so they fire front line services rahter than get theri snouts out the trough and alos reduce the bloated management structure.
As I have said before, it doesn't matter what he says even if he means it, which I doubt, he can't get anything from Europe without the permission of the majority of the members. Which obviously we are not going to get. Why would they ?
Yes I read an article by David Aaronivitch - who is a reasonably honest customer - rubbishing the whole Cameron strategy. It's absolutely brilliant in theory (if you are that way inclined) but takes no account whatever of the wishes or plans of the other EU members and is therefore doomed.
It's hard to see in what respect Britain is in an excellent bargaining position.
So he will be undoing Heath's, thatcher's and Major's work.
He will probably be doing (with luck and a fair wind) what the majority of people in the UK wish. During the Major and Thatcher years the EU was not bodering on a federal state.
The only way he can get out of Europe is to have a coalition with UKIP and dish the Liberals. A poll recently showed UKIP doing very well ie > 10% and higher than Liberal.

It might be a way of saving his skin as a defeat will let Boris take over.
no he won't.
The fact that he is promising the undeliverable after the next election means he has already conceded the Conservatives will not win it.

UKiP will more likely harm the Conservatives at the election. The LibDems vote will evaporate and benefit Labour. After next months by-election, we will see mass LibDem defections to Labour.
They say UKIP is only concerned about getting us out of Europe and have no other policies. This may suit a number of conservative MPs so why not amalgamate and keep the conservatives in power.

Because that preserves the status quo . So where does that get us. ?
The Labour party is pro Europe and Labour voters are anti Europe .
Ditto Tories .
Up the Swanee without a paddle modeller
paddling backwards more like.
