I thought he had been with RTE for about 25 years.  He seems to have been around forever.

He has been with RTE for a long time, I think it must be a change in post or job title or something. Proving impossible to find out!

Charlie Bird HAS been a news reporter since 1980, although I couldn't swear it was with RTE as I'm in England (and have been most of that time!).  Nor can I confirm what parallel career he had going! Sorry!
