/// An initial review at the scene concluded the shooting was not a “friendly fire” incident involving British forces, but was caused “by a third party or parties whose identities have yet to be established but who are not UK personnel”. ///

i.e the enemy forces?
It seems most of these Green on Blue killings do not happen in a combat area. If they cannot be trusted why the hell do we issue them with ammunition in a safe place. Even the British Army when training its troops only hand out ammunition when on the firing range.
From my post the other day.
// In fact, they said, he was an Afghan policeman who had left his checkpoint nearby to clean himself before prayer.

According to one official, the policeman’s colleagues saw him come under attack and returned fire. One source said the British even began firing rockets.

Amid the confusion, three people, Cpl Day, Cpl David O’Connor, a Royal Marine from 40 Commando, and the policeman, were killed. //

It seems the Afghan Police seeing their colleague murdered, return fire.
Sad Lost [sic] of two of our troops.

I note you have not gone to the trouble of naming Corporal Channing Day and Corporal David O' Connor in your post at all. i was criticised by you for not naming O'Connor until the fourth paragraph in my thread. Sad then that you cannot be bothered to look up their names.
