This news story is a little old, but has just been forwarded to me.

The BBC ran a story on its online site about Orlando Cruz, the first professional boxer to come out as gay.

It's a nicely written article...

...and the you notice the name of the reporter.

Quite brilliant actually.

LOL @ name of the reporter.
Wasn't there a similar case not too long ago by a journalist Roger Boys ?
Very good.
indeed it does....lol

A while ago on our local news prog viewers were asked to email in their comments on a featured story, to be read out at the end of the prog, which they did.

I was most amused when a contributor's name was read out at the end of the emailed comment. I emailed the prog to congratulate them on airing the email from 'Rudolf Hooker'....priceless!
?

He knows about boxing, nothing to do with the BBC's soh.
Ha! Very good. I wonder if Mr Dirs is for real. What were his parents thinking of?
Lol sp the reporter chose well. Good luck to the boxer, who's going to argue with him about it.
Yes kiki, he is real :-

Yes - I was sent a picture of a page from (I think) Catholic Herald website earlier this year. It was a story about child abuse in the church and indeed the author was Roger Boyes.

I meant at the time to check it out, because I suspected it may have been a Photoshop job...never got round to it.

The thing I like about the BBC story, other than the splendid name...is how cheesed off the reporter looks in his byline picture. You can just imagine he's heard every single gay joke there has ever been.

Found it.

It wasn't The Catholic Herald...it was The Times:

Nice one.
He probably pronounces it 'dears' a la hyacinth bucket/bouqet.
Great name!
Lol, very good.
Wouldn't it have more punch if it was Ben Dover ?

WR.
