I have just learned that the lovely Jackie Bird, BBC Scotland's news anchorwoman has been rushed to hospital with a strangulated bowel. She is recovering from emergency surgery and is expected to be home in a few days. Get well soon Jackie.

I hope she makes a full recovery. I met her a few years ago and she was really nice - very down to earth.
