Because the pig is seen as an unlcean animal by Muslims - they do not east any producst produced from it.

The action is designed to cause offence to Muslims - that is why it is it perceived as a racist statement.

I agree with Zed - it's not racist, it's a religious offence. Muslims and Jews (who would be offended by the pig) are religious followers, they can be from any race or colour.

I think that there should be just one crime, that of bad manners...different punishments depending on the degree of bad manners, but none of this "is it this or is it that?" Its all bad manners, thoughtlessness, selfishness, bullying, greed....all bad manners.
