Anonymous are attacking the Westboro Baptist Church because of their threat to picket a vigil held for those killed in Newton.

Now...do you feel this is an outrageous attack on freedom of speech...or like me, do you kinda think "About bl**dy time"?

They are a thoroughly repugnant bunch, and have form on this kind of action. Google them to see them picketing funerals of US soldiers killed in Iraq / Afghanistan, for instance.

I do not like to see free speech being curtailed, but it is hard not to have a kind of grudging approval for what Anonymous are doing.

With you there RR - could anyone explain what the WBC think they are about (are they basically religious nutters who just believe their way is right) - simplistic as possible (not up on religion and got a bit of a cold so slow on the uptake tonight). How can anyone be anti a vigil for dead children and their teachers, beyond me.

I'm sure this is the Theroux family and, if so, there is absolutely no logic or reasoning behind them. I feel sorry for their younger children and would advocate removal from the family as this is a form of abuse.

Okay - this is the thing I don't understand about the WBC...

...do they think by mounting these protests that they are going to persuade anyone to their cause? I mean...they seem to take the very worst situations to picket at. If they demonstratd about the 'evils of man' outside a state prison where a child murderer was to be executed, then you could understand where they were coming from. Perhaps they could even recruit new members.

But this? It's almost like they want condemnation. What's the point?
