Told today there will be a ferry on Saturday, passengers only, no room for cars, they will be shipped over 3/4 days later!! We have a 4 hour drive once we get to Poole so that is a no no.
Told later we are booked on a ferry 18,40 Saturday with car. Holiday company are paying for all extra hotel costs so that is good, no hassle with travel insurance.
Weather still very wet and very windy, difficult to stand up in it. None of the tourist attractions are open until Easter. It is difficult to fill the time. We drove around the island again, stopped to read papers looking over a very rough sea.Lots of the houses have little boxes on their walls selling things with an honesty box, we saw potatoes, logs, home made cards, veg and fudge. Imagine that in England.
Went into town and bought another book so have something to read as almost finished current book.We keep having a nap to pass the time.
My bum aches with all the sitting down we are doing, unfortunately my back and hips are playing up so I can't do much walking. I MISS MY SETTEE.
I just hope the weather is ok on Saturday and their is no more delays.
Love to all.
Gawd blimey, what a trip this has been , for all the wrong reasons. I do so hope you manage to get back to Blighty on Saturday. I shall keep fingers crossed for you xx
Aww...sorry you're having this bother Caran. But....life's an adventure. Do something really crazy before you leave so you'll have a great story for the kids. Gx
Dotty yes there is, but forgot my cossie, anyway I have put too much weight on while here as there is nothing else to do except eat all this delicious food. Have never found a hotel that could equal never mind beat this one on food.
Gness I would cause an eclipse of everything. Seen lots of people (mad people) running into the sea, diving in and running out fast again. It is really cold here.
Glad its getting sorted caran, have you been to the German Underground Hospital (if its open in Winter) we spent ages down there reading the very touching letters displayed around the walls, there are quite a few museums on the island although I expect you have already seen them.........

we stayed there in 2000 and saw the Queen unveil the Millennium Stone on the golf course. We loved the island and would like to return one day. Hope you get home soon and safely x
Ann we have been round all the museums, occpation things etc, none are open until Easter. There is absolutely nothing to do apart from look at the sea, go round the shops. Too wet or windy for anything, such a c
shame as so beautiful an island.
what a relief when you eventually get back home, hope you make the 18.40 ferry okay and have a safe drive home, worth bringing some of that veg they have for sale outside their homes, fudge sounds good too and eggs are a good buy at least you will be able to make something when you get in.
Going away for the New Year caran ? [says she with tongue in cheek].
Have a safe journey home Caran - the weather still looks rough tomorrow, I bet you will be glad to get home. What a shame as Guernsey is so beautiful when the weather is nice. x
