If anything he'll be King of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, not just England, unless the Scots get independence. I don't know about any riots, and people wouldn't riot against royalty - they've got better things to be annoyed about, IM0.

She may step down re the work load and put him in as Prince Regent. Given the consequences of abdication ré her father, I doubt she would give up the throne.

Graham, the Queen has no right to determine who rules - we aren't Saudi Arabia. There is a thing called the Act of Succession, dating from 1701, so unless they can prove Charles mad or he pops his clogs, he becomes the next Monarch.

It seems unlikely that Prince Charles would take the title Charles III, considering the actions of Charles I and II.
He has the names Charles Philip Arthur George so he can choose any of those when he becomes King, and I believe he will become King in due course.

the other scenario where Charles would be bypassed would be if he went over to Rome...there was rumour back in 78 when he was "interested" in Marie-Astrid of Belgium.
