Why has the Deputy Prime Minister chosen a London based commercial radio station, such as LBC on which to conduct his phone-in show?

perhaps they were the only ones to say yes? Also, i for one am glad as he's already in london, he wont be using expenses to go back to wherever his ocnstituency is

LBC is very much a London station, I used to listen to it at my Mums....I can see why Boris did it, but Nick won't find out much about what the nation thinks, only those who live around London and listen to LBC....and some of those folk are very weird indeed.....

And if he'd chosen a Manchester based one, would you be asking about his choice then? He's been invited by LBC and accepted that invitation. He's probably got a home in London too, so the station is convenient.

LBC own many UK commercial stations. If the Clegg show is any good it could be rolled out nationwide.

Or When Boris packs in the London Mayorship to take over from Cameron, Clegg will pack in his LibDem leadership and have a stab at running for Mayor.

LBC is owned by Global Radio who own a load of other stations.

Why should you deduce that? Apart from that LBC is widely receivable far from London if one possesses a digital radio receiver.

Why do you always answer in an aggressive way, why can't ABers ask perfectly innocent questions without the need for you to be so aggressive?

But in answer to your question, I would have thought being a member of the British government, he would have been better seen to be addressing the whole nation by holding his phone-in on the BBC.

Incidentally I do not know what your reference to Manchester was all about, the BBC do still broadcast from Broadcasting House London you know.

Not really

The BBC Charter restricts how much coverage they can give to politicians before they are deemed to be showing favour.

Commercial stations are not so restricted.

Have to give the guy some kudos for continually sticking his head above the parapet - he must be a sucker for punishment, since this show will largely consist of him having to apologise, followed by a repetition of the following standardised responses; continually blame labour for "the mess we are in"; a how the LibDems are the only moderating force shielding the public from the brutality of them there nasty Tories; that the LibDems joined forces with those nasty Tories in the public interest; That Libdems are the only party that stand for social justice and fairness; and that political campaign pledges are not worth the paper they are printed on.

It will be a tragi-comedy, and if Mr. Clegg seriously thinks he can win back support for the LibDems, he is sadly mistaken, in my view.

Well, what was the point of the question ,aog? You asked why he had chosen "a London based station" not why he had chosen a local station rather than a national one. Why did you regard the fact of it being London based as important ? That is the basis of your question.

Because has I have already said, why a London based radio station, it is not as if he is say the London Mayor.

Being a National politician, the Deputy Prime Minister no less, he should have chosen a Radio station, which is freely available to all in the UK.

Just as simple as that, nothing sinister, nothing anti-this, that or the other, just a simple ordinary question to put to other ABers.

Ah, so that's what you meant, aog. It's not that it's a local station, it's that it's in London, "London based". That's why you cited the fact that it was in London. Therefore you don't object to LBC as not being a national station, though, as you say, it is widely available on the internet. So which local station should he have gone on and why? A London one seems a reasonable choice for a man who works, and probably keeps a home, in London. Or should he have gone only on whatever station serves his constituency?

You have to forgive my asking questions to find out precisely what it is you are complaining about. It is not always clear; as shown above, it may not be clear now, in the light of your earlier replies.
