Bbc Paying Out For Jimmy Savile
According to the daily mail today, the BBC and the NHS therefore the taxpayers could be paying huge payouts to the people he abused..I feel very sorry for the people he's abused the man was evil..but why not share out his own money between those he abused..

"Could be paying out",indeed . It's doubtful whether the BBC or the NHS are vicariously liable, as a matter of strict law. The courts, being pragmatic and eager to stretch a point to ensure claimants are compensated, are quite keen to nail anyone with vicarious liability if the tortfeasor, the wrongdoer, has not got funds to meet claims and the other...

If any money that could be paid out is paid out, how will it help any of these people all these decades down the line ?
I'm willing to bet the vast majority of these "abused" people have been living totally "normal" lives and never even gave these incidents a second thought until it was all brought up.
I'm not condoning his actions here just putting things into perspective.

I,m not saying these people should,t be compensated if they have been left traumatised ,but let it come out of his money..by the time the solicitors and all the other leaches have had there share , for writing reports etc, Iwouldnt mind betting it will cost the taxpayer tens of millions of pounds.. Why not give them all £7000 each and have done with it all..And never show his face or mention this sickos name in the papers or on the tv ever again end of..apparently his £4.3 million is frozen so it could be done ..
Compensation or no compensation it doesn't matter in the whole scheme of things.
What does matter though is here we had a multi abuser/rapist who managed to go through life committing his crimes, what really wants to be addressed is how did he manage to get away with it?
There must have been many who knew of these crimes and did nothing about it all these years, these are the ones that should now be facing prosecution.
Had these sex crimes been murders, I wonder if he would have still got away with them, only to suddenly become recognised as the mass murderer once he had died?
Who are those that are responsible for allowing him to get away 'scot free'?

Things that should be done.
a) Prove he was guilty of these heinous crimes. (Not sure how that can be done now he's dead)
b) If he was guilty then money should be paid to the genuine victims who wish to sue and the money should come out of his millions.
c)Strip him of his Knighthood.
d)Find out who the people were who took the decision not to prosecute and bring them to court.
Finally, as sammo says, stop showing his ugly smug face on the TV and in the newspapers and I say that whether he's guilty on not.

I am not sure that those claiming abuse only came out when compo was mentioned. That seems a fairly dismissive view of victims of abuse to me.
Proof or otherwise of these allegations is not affected whether SoVile is alive or dead - the facts and allegations remain, and given the historical nature of them I would imagine it would be all but impossible to find, for example, corroborative forensic evidence. The police, in publishing their report, have presumably satisfied themselves that ,at least for the majority of the allegations, that the witnesses seemed genuine and sincere and were able to prove that they were where they said they were etc.
I do have some reservations about the way that all of the allegations have been sort of lumped together - some will undoubtedly have been worse and more traumatic for the victim than others, but it seems undeniable that the central point is true - SoVile was an industrial scale pervert, both using and relying on his celebrity to affort opportunity and to deflect attention from the authorities.
The one statement I really did grate on the ear from the police was this comment about SoVile "Grooming the Nation" - Sounded like a soundbite quote from a cop with political ambitions - and if anyone was groomed, it was the establishment and the police, not the nation.
As for compensation - some of these victims suffered abuse on public property - BBC, NHS etc. For some, it seems a recognition of what happened to them and an apology was all they needed, but for others, whose life has been affected, the idea of some financial compensation does not seem wrong to me...

Thanks for the compliment baldric, inspired eh:-) I wasn't 'saving' the question for you, why would I? I'll add baz's name to yours then, better? But you still didn't answer the question. I don't see that unless you or Baz know all the people in question how you could possibly know how the abuse has affected their lives. All differently I would expect.
And I too am sick of seeing his sick ugly face every time his name is mentioned. Not necessary, we all know what he looks like, unfortunately.
