why would anyone buy them at any rate, it seems perverse that Tarantino would either allow them to be made, or that they would be made at all for any film, irrespective of the nature of the film, it's barmy.

I think you might have hit the nail on the head.

Perhaps these shouldn't be referred to as 'dolls'. Rather they're collectible figures (the kind that fans never take out of their boxes).

Normally, though these would be figures from sci-fi or fantasy films. I wouldn't have expected the same for Django.

You could have the Liam Neeson character, and Ralph Fiennes in a Nazi uniform, and then a shoebox full of very thin dolls which you could stencil with numbers to represent their tattoos.

I find it ironic since many of the slave traders were themselves black and to this day Islamic North Africans still trade in Black slaves,in Mauritania for example.
Many workers in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states are no better off than slaves.
At least Britain abolished slavery in the 1800's and it may be worth noting many white people were forced to work the plantations in the Caribbean as well as the coal mines,mills and Ironworks etc back in the UK during Victorian times.
Some folks like to stir up hatred and mistrust..The past is the past you can't change it...Pointless to keep banging on about it.
