if so how do we as mostly law abiding folk do, if someone is faced with one of these self styled vigilantes, walk away, or as i can see happening giving one of the them a pasting.
Giving them a pasting wouldn't change them - others would call it a racial attack and we know how speedily people jump on that bandwagon. For some of them it's any excuse, so it would have the effect of creating support for them. I think the law has to come down heavily on them every single time. This is harrassment.

i wasn't advocating violence, that isn't the answer, but can see it happening from someone who doesn't take kindly to the words this is a Muslim area clear off. They have been trying this on for some while, posters were put up saying pretty much the same thing. let's hope the police do their job, and these blokes get a much needed reminder that this is not acceptable nor will it be tolerated.
There was a report on Newsnight a while back which showed vigilantes in some northern city riding their area of street prostitutes. They did this by confronting the pimps and ostentatiously taking the registration numbers of cruising cars. The editorial tone didn't seem at all critical.
Question Author
did you watch the video that naomi and i posted, as these men are confronting law abiding citizens, not prostitutes or alcoholics.
No one should be above the law of this land, no one.
Looks to be the thin edge of the wedge. Soon Sharia law may hold sway from Tower Hamlets all the way to the furthest edges of Havering.
Question Author
let us hope not, this is not what this country is all about, abiding by the law of the land, if they can't do that, they should find a country that is more to their liking.
I agree with you Em in every respect.
There's been a mosque in Tower Hamlets for 100 years. To be fair, they've spoken out firmly against this

Anyone found guilty of trying to imply Sharia law exists on UK streets ought to be sent to live somewhere they actually have it- see how many people do it then. I really have no patience with this. I am not remotely hysterical about Sharia law taking over in Britain, but when you do have lunatics trying to undermine the law like this very strong action needs to be taken.
The trouble is that if enough people in an area want something, or those who want it are loud enough, they usually get it. Here in Belfast there's a nonsense called 'Restorative Justice' in operation. The big thugs sit in judgement on the lesser ones.

if some don't care whether we have sharia law across the country, then sorry i find that more than worrying. These men don't just want sharia law across Britain, but to apply across the globe. they don't want our laws, those that we should all live by, they want to change the very nature of this country, and if it sounds familiar, all it takes is a few, and then see how far it goes. No one can possibly know how many feel the way these men do. Whether as suggested on the news this was chest beating, being provocative, well it worked didn't it. I despise them for their misogynistic attitudes, and their backwards mentality on homosexuality and so should all who believe that this is a modern country, and that if it doesn't suit they should go someplace that does.
