at first site at least it seems that we can cut a lot of things overnight by 20% and increase the length of the weekend. No doubt you chaps will will point out the folly but it sounds good on the face of it.

which means they will graft harder, as in agriculture, working on the land, that will be there weekends gone, can't see it catching on here.
8 to 6 is quite a long day, a lot of Brits wouldn't be up for it. They'll still be working a 40-hour week, just spread across fewer days
The difference is that Friday's a day of prayer in the Gambia, generally it's not here.
My husband did something similar for about 2 years, worked a 4 day week and had a rolling day off which meant that every few weeks he had a 4 day weekend. I had already retired so it was great for going away and just going out and getting things done when it was midweek. He worked from home at the time and said that he did not notice the extra hours each day as he was no longer driving 50 mile round trip to the office.
we've had the option for a 9-day fortnight for quite some time - it means the 9 days are loooong, though.
probably have to have monday off after a heavy weekend starting friday
