I don't buy bottled water in the UK.
My water bill is the highest of all my utilities bills. I can turn the heating down, use a slow cooker and turn off lights but I can't seem to reduce my water consumption.
Tilly, have you got a water meter?
Yes, hc. We do have a water meter.
Tilly what actions have you taken to reduce your water consumption ?.
Things in the cisterns of the loos, kettle with markings, no drippy taps..................er..................never have a bath.
Well taking a shower instead of a bath uses less water Tilly.
It must be all the tea I drink and the subsequent visits to the loo.
Actually, when I'm at home and doing jobs, I'm constantly washing my hands.
When we were both at work all day, our water bills were very low. You don't realise how often you turn on the taps.
I think a lot of going into a supermarket and buying bottled water, I never do it, total con IMO.
Water meters are great if there aren't many occupants in your house but they can be a bu**er if you get a leak. check your meter then don't turn on a tap/flush loo for as long as possible then check meter again. I think that you are responsible for the pipe between the meter and the house. This is where you can get a leak without realising.
There you go Tilly, think you've answered your own question.
I only buy bottled water when travelling. If I want sparkling water I use the soda stream.

There are two of us in the house and I work from home most days, I pay £12pm on a metre which I am quite happy with.
Q: When is a meter not a metre?
A: When it's a meter.
Eccles, our bill is £52! We must have a leak!
Well obviously I was referring to a cubic metre of water ;-)
Get it checked Tilly.
Oh, heck. Something else to worry about.
water? there's been a serious shortage of it just lately ... no wonder it's expensive
According to our last bill we used 81 cubic metres in the last eight months, July-Feb. That's 10 cubic metres a month. Does that sound like a lot?
I only ever buy bottled water if I'm stuck on a train in the heat or in a hotel. Both are rare.

Our water bill is around £200 per year - no meter.
