for a fox cull in our cities and towns ?

I have them in my garden and for the most part they show no fear until i'm about two metres near.
I see them morning noon and night in all the parks I go running in and on main roads.
At night they make a horrendous noise screaming and calling to each other
Problem is theres easy pickings for them, why go stalking , chasing and generally expending lots of resources to get your food when its easily available all over the place, handily left by humans ?
Go to the country side and you hardly see any because food is far harder to come by, it has to be hunted, an expensive past-time for a fox and as a result theres a lot less of them.
most of them that I do see all look pretty manky and mangy not like the basil-brush cute pics you see as kids in the books etc, probably as a result of eating our leftover junk foods they find on all the streets and bins they have easy access to !

Im with Daisya on this one. Poor foxes, getting a bad press yet again, we only have ourselves to blame, littering, overcrowding, taking over their habitat, making them resort to scavaging. I feel desperately sorry for wildlife...as a famous quote from the film Watership Down, 'humans will never rest until they've spoilt the earth'.
but i'm sure most of the pro-fox people have no problem with rats being got rid of ?
I agree about humans, we are the planets real problem but as it stands theres not much we can do about that, as there is a bring as many babies into to being as possible, save every life at any cost attitude.
i get the feeling that as usual there is the aaahh factor at play here, the nice foxy pics and stories most of us are fed as kids.
These animals are breeding and survivng at higher rates than ever before thanks to our "generosity" so at what point do they become a nuisance and something has to be done.
Like i said it seems to be the aaah its cute and furry factor at play with some, but at some point you are going to have to be realistic.

Ive been around and worked around foxes for much of my life and I almost laughed when I read the above comment from the article, I would say the only circumstances where that would happen would be if the fox had rabies! I really think that something else caused that injury, it was either domestic dog or human, certainly not fox!!

I would like to see it proved it was a fox before everyone gets hysterical and it turns into a fox bloodbath. It all sounds very unlikely especially the wrestling bit. There could be some unscrupulous type that might try to cover up the fact their beloved pet dog had bitten a child by blaming a fox. Does it get checked?
my oh was dozing in the lounge woke up to find fox sitting in front of fire .i was in another room ,also they come in and steal shoes left by the door, one walked passed me in the conservatory and jumped up on to my drainingboard in the kitchen didnt seem afraid of me ,they are walking about the garden all hours of the day and night .Alot of my neighbours and myself have lost lots of shoes ,one lost a slipper from her bedroom.
