Pe Or Brainwashing. ?
I recently asked if faith schools were divisive.
On the news today the government were saying there's not enough PE
in the schools and the BBC showed a sports hall ..
There dominating a whole wall was a large crucifix flanked by two equally large crosses.
I've just seen a similar scene in another school with nothing on the wall.
Now I wonder which was the faith school. ?

It's an incentive scheme. If they don't exercise hard enough the get nailed up next to the other guy.

My children go/went to a C of E primary school (just because its the local one). Boy #1 doesn't believe in God (his choice) and boy #2 thinks that people are God's pets (the others are too young to have an opinion). If they are trying to brainwash them to be religious they are doing a crap job of it.
#don't think going to a faith school ever killed anyone.#
Really !! Tell that to the victims of the NI troubles, tell that to the victims of the Madrassa educated Islamists, tell that to the Bosnians slaughtered
by the Serbs, . As the Jesuits said give me the child and I'll give you the man. Religious education is the greatest cause and excuse for conflict throughout the world .

pretty #Ignorance is the cause#
That is true but we are born ignorant and that's the problem if that ignorance is filled with a doctrine as a child that is the greatest influence in our lives. It doesn't have to be a religious doctrine it can be political. That's why most people stick to their beliefs despite contrary evidence and events.

The quick answer is it was ignored . I didn't want to influence them.
They went to state schools where they had their once a week bible stories .
They were baptised because at the time I thought it was what you did , just like registering their birth.
For myself I don't like fixed doctrines because they are divisive and destroy the ability to think outside the box.

I
cont. I however do believe that some people possess a sixth sense or second sight, whatever you want to call it, because I witnessed it at first hand over a period of 40 years. ( I believe it's probably telepathy ).
Therefore there are things that at the moment can not be explained.
For me religion is pure fantasy. Made up all over the world , with hundreds of variations by man over thousands of years .

No I don't think Cof E schools were ever true Faith Schools. They were set up especially in rural areas originally to educate anybody . It didn't matter what your faith was, if any, just like today . They became supported by the state and no one was barred . my granddaughter goes to the nearest primary school which is Cof E and the pupils are from all faith backgrounds. The secondary schools also accept anyone but the RCs want their own schools and they have four that I know of. The Sikhs now want to build a big secondary school in my area and there is massive resistance to it causing a lot of ill feeling, so much so the polce have been called.
Another example of dividing a society.
