I thoroughly hope they sue the pants off Mr McKenzie, but that's my personal bias, based on a strong dislike of the man.

However, objectively speaking, do the families have a case?

Or has justice already been done?

Purely personal opinion, I hope they sue the pants off the police, Sheffield whatnot, the FA, Kelvin Mckenzie et al. and they are successful to boot.
got to agree alba, massive cover up and lies, lies and more lies.
If sueing them makes them feel better, and in some way makes up for their loss, (although I fail to see how) let them sue whosoever they want.................
.

well if they dont they get non-suited - nocae to answer

the lawyers get paid of course either way

Justice and Hillsborough - yeah interesting contrast
i live in liverpool, and i knew someone who died at hillborough and I also know many people who also knew someone, or who is affected in some way ... it cuts very deep for the people here, probably more that people who arent from here know.
the pain is still strong for many even after all these years so i believe this man does have a lot to answer for.
had those people just died in a tragic accident and he hadnt done what he did, most people would have moved on by now - never forgotten - but 'let it go' somewhat - but they have been prevented from doing that due to this mans actions.
some peoples lives have been utterly consumed with anger over it... and it is not about money, but the principle of it and absolutely about justice.

so yes i believe they have a case.
How reckless is it to report what you have been told by the police ? Did not the Report say that the police had put out false stories, as well as editing their own statements to remove any suggestion of fault on their part?

The police, on the other hand, were definitely in the wrong and have no excuse.
As he was told by the Police it is difficult to see a case against McKenzie.

Unless of course you want back door gagging of the press.

But that wont stop the hard done by scoucers blaming him. sounds like shooting the messenger, but there again the messenger is an easy target.

I understand, but the police approached a number of national papers at the time with the same story. None of the others printed the allegations, because they couldn't be verified by independent witnesses.

Also, rather than printing "POLICE ALLEDGE FANS...", the Sun printed: "THE TRUTH" as if they done some due diligence on the story.

They hadn't.
If they do sue McKenzie I hope they're successful.
They may or may not have a case but sucessfully suing for malfeasance is very difficult to pull off.
they are due justice. but bear in mind that if this "necessary" piece of legislation had been in place at the time, they would never have been permitted to find out they had a case.

he did not JUST report what he was told by the police though... and as someone else said - none of it was fact, as he tried to claim

i agree the police are much worse in this of course.

most people in liverpool dont buy the sun ... in fact many shops dont even sell it.
