If you had the choice, would you prefer your son to return from Afghanistan alive OR return killed but with a Victoria Cross awarded?

Call me peculiar if you like but I'm quite pleased that my son came back, unharmed, from Afghanistan. It never occurred to me that I could have swapped him for a medal........... Mind you, that's probably because as a loving parent, I wouldn't have wished to have sacrificed him on the altar of my own vanity.

Sqad, did you hit submit before expanding on that question?
I am assuming there is more to this question and the unsaid aspect, I am guessing, is would you rather your son returned alive but seriously injured, amputee, severe head trauma, etc.

I know which I would go for, equally I know what his choice would be.

Trick question?
Strange question?
Not worthy of my intelligence.

AB at it,s best.

I would be very proud to have one if my sons bestowed with the Victoria Cross, the highest award that one can get for bravery in the course of military duty to his country.

I would be proud to sacrifice one of my sons for that highest accolade.
Dulce et decorum est?
They'll be delighted to hear that I'm sure!
