Why don't they just convert the Bedrooms into Studies , Library , Morning Room and thus avoid the tax ?

I have been paying this tax for years and years.
They valued my house back in 1991/92 and charge me a tax every year to live in my house.

It was technically a drawing room, but we always referred to it as the lounge.

it doesn't depend upon whether there's a bed in the room...
you can't, if it's classified as a bedroom then it stays that way. It applies as already mentioned to social housing tenants. It has nothing at all to do with the valuation of your property... what council tax band

How do you get to live in a house rent free ?
Wish I had known about this years ago, I would not have bothered with getting a mortgage.
brick the door to the spare room up,
rent free, where?

Rent Free , if the state pays it or gives you money to pay it.
What's a "morning room"?

alternate to the evening room perhaps.
Is that you being sarcastic? :P

I don't even know what an evening room is???? :))
no i wasn;t being sarcastic, i have no idea what a morning room is either.
I think it was a room used mostly by the lady of the house. She 'retired' there with her sewing, etc as it was usually a room that got all the sun.
