Fire deaths trial 1350:

BREAKING: Sentencing of Mick and Mairead Philpott has been adjourned until 10:30 tomorrow, Mrs Justice Thirlwall tells Nottingham Crown Court.

I hope the judge doesn't go soft on the comments of them being good parents.

I don't know why they have adjourned until tomorrow. What is the idea of that.

His /her value was money before life, that life was his childrens, he /she has taken that away from them, there is only one way for these persons, Life, & life should mean life.

whilst i suspect many agree with you TWR on this, it won't happen, it might be a life sentence, but if the matter has been delayed for sentencing, perhaps something else has come to light, i really don't know. Good parents don't set light to their house to be the hero, or indeed so they can exact revenge on the ex.

Mick Philpott was on bail at time of fire having been charged with road rage. He is awaiting trial for that offence.

Even so, I don't think he'll give much weight to the claim in mitigation that they were good parents.

I doubt she will sandy - you'd be wanting to hand down a rock solid judgement here with no wriggle room for appeal

There should n't be any weighing up of evidence or arguments, case proven. Sentence should be given. Time already been allowed for evidence during trial no excuses.

I hope he recieves a very long sentence and I hope that after she's punished for her part in it she gets the help she needs to prevent her entering another abusive damaging relationship because having seen the TV programme last night about the couple it's clear she isnt very clever and was extremely easy to dominate and manipulate.

He is vermin. He has never shown any remorse whatsoever and I hope he gets the maximum sentence allowed with no early release.

how does the law not lock people like this away for good, almost murdering a girlfriend, hurts her mother, headbutting someone, road rage, now the six children dead, what will it take i wonder.

i wonder at this man, controlling, abusive, has actually got away with this since a young man, what on earth possesses some to behave this way, no morals, scruples, or compassion, i despair sometimes.

To answer your Q Em, this is the UK, "That's why" we think more of the offender than the courts think of the Victim.
