If miraculously the entire North Korean army did manage to get to us and land on our shores, then frankly worrying about Cameron's cuts would be the last thing on our mind. Even before those cuts there probably wouldn't be enough to stop such a large army. The only reason this isn't frightening at all is because it's also never going to happen. No way the NK army will be able to get here, or even in a position to be able to land.

Cameron is suggesting we spend £20bn on a new version of trident. This is not a defensive weapon and if we ever attempted to use it would lead to self destruction.
If we were really worried about defending our country we would have more of the new missile defence systems to shoot down any incoming missiles and the cost would be far less.
Anyway what has the average North Korean done to us they just want to go about their business. Sending them one of our Trident missiles just depletes their population. Wouldn't a better solution be to send targeted drones to wipe out the leaders?

I'm sort of with YMB on this - deterrents only work if everyone involved is thinking logically. And it's not clear that the North Koreans are doing that.
I've never liked Nuclear weapons anyway, but maybe they did help keep the peace after all. We'll never really know how much difference they made in the past. But in the Cold War at least, the leaders of both sides seemed desperate to avert catastrophe.
