Although the prosecution asked for 15 years the judge sentenced her to death.

I do not believe in the death penalty but if someone knows the laws of a country and then deliberately breaks the law, they take the consequences
personally, no, I think she shouldn't, as I don't believe in the death penalty for anyone. But my opinion doesn't carry a lot of weight in Jakarta.
I echo MrsO, their country their rules. What we think of those rules is a side issue.
Drugs cause untold misery around the world and people who traffic it care nothing for the victims of drug addiction the crimes caused to get money for drugs.

I would support the death penalty for drug pushers in this country.
I don't think for a minute she will be executed.
I also think there is more to this case than meets the eye. I cannot understand how the other woman and the man involved got off so lightly
She belonged to the "it won't happen to me brigade" and now she faces the consequences. Very traumatic for her family and friends. Did she think of them when she engaged in smuggling ? I could not be the one who does the execution but when in Rome and all that.
You choose the behavior - you choose the consequences.
Personally I believe that if you take a life then you should lose yours. In this case she has not killed anyone, although I Know that drugs kill, people have a choice whether to take them or not. No she should not be executed. In this country with our laws she would probably get a life sentence and be released in 10 years. Life should mean life.
yes
but it won't happen.

she was a legal secretary so she knew what she was doing was wrong.
It will certainly stop her doing it again and also send out a strong message that they wont tolerate it.

To answer the question, yes if those are the laws of the land she should face the firing squad.
I don't agree with the death penalty wherever it is upheld.

I have always been somewhat puzzled by the countries that practise legal murder, as most of them also pretend to be terribly religious. For example, the USA apparently believe in the literal truth of the Bible, including upholding that the earth is only about 6000 years old, but then manage to send so very many people to the gas chamber or electric chair each year. most of them black. As an atheist, of course I can make my own mind up about issues rather than relying on mysterious writings but if they are such good Christians, why are they so keen on killing people.

This retched woman in Thailand has broken the law but why do they have to kill her ?
if you play with fire you will get burnt she knew the consequences of her actions..no sympathy from me...
Should she face the firing squad ? Depends on what is meant by the question. Certainly there is difficulty in suggesting one country try to tell another how to run their affairs. From that viewpoint her situation is grim indeed. But if asking whether a death penalty is a morally correct course of action then in my opinion, no. No one should face the State taking away their life. It degrades all concerned. making the State no better than the criminals it deals with.

As for the drug industry, I don't see the justification in the calls for reprisal against the suppliers. Those who opt to take drugs do so of their own free will, no one forced them to start. I think the outrage is more to do with looking for an easy answer, and coming down heavily on the supply side seems to be favourite.
No, she was turned over by the authorities from what I remember of this, in return for dobbing in her accomplices the death penalty was supposed to be taken off the table, she kept up her end!
no, but i do think that the others involved made some sort of deal, if that is the case, why should she face the death penalty. I can understand a long prison sentence for drug trafficking, but to be executed seems wrong.
Absolutely not and anyone who advocates her state murder is a rabid drooling fascist IMO.
No, she made deal with the prosecution and got the death sentence anyway. I'm very anti death penalty but especially after a deal was struck.
No, that`s barbaric.
I don't want to get shot by a firing squad. That's why I've never tried smuggling drugs through Indonesian customs.
