I noticed that the front N/S member of the bearer party,a naval rating, was not wearing white ceremonial gloves unlike the other members. Is there a protocol, does any one know,re the wearing of gloves by members of the Royal Navy on ceremonial occasions or did he just leave them in the washing machine?

According to this picture it seems that every other one is wearing gloves.
Can we all promise that as from tomorrow morning, we will all stop talking about this bloody woman.............please !
Because you called her a 'bloody woman', no.
I would like to call her something, but I won't as I think I would be banned.
Say you 'love her' and we'll stop.

As most Servicemen know, the RN salute 'palm down' as traditionally sailors hands became dirty whilst climbing rigging etc and they were thus not allowed to show a dirty palm.
I thought the guy in the red tunic didnt have gloves BUT
was clutching the coffin handle at one point

that was the fella who was so large that his counterpart couldnt clutch / bind with his shoulder.

the most memorable bit was definitely the police clutching sub machine guns which were obviously loaded and NOT pointing at the ground
What???

Mrs Thatcher is dead???

No one has mentioned it...
.

2sp she was running the Boston marathon they are saying
Why would anybody want to watch a funeral?
Did anyone notice the naughty naughty first minister of Scotland turned up and did NOT wear a black tie ?

at least he didnt blub in public

That was memorable?!?!

Also, there is a huge difference between 'loaded' and 'ready'.
Why don't people who were Anti-Thatcher, curb the posts of "nastiness", that they seem to want to continue ad nauseam and stay off a post that they obviously have no answer to.

News is not Chatterbank.
