If our Queen is still healthy and can still do the job, why should she do the same. We do not really have a tradition of our monarch abdicating, and that one was seen as letting the country down. Our monarch die (or are killed) in office.
The Queen should go on like Victoria did, Charles may get a bit of a go like Edward VII did.

What is wrong with Camila, I think she would make an ideal Queen, and Charles king, but then I don't think some would agree in this image concious world.

I can't think of any good reason why there shouldn't be a Queen Camilla, apart from blind prejudice, or bigotry. What difference does it make anyway, who is on the throne ? It will be a non-elected, unrepresentative individual that we will have no choice over.
While I think that our present Queen has done a sterling job for the last few years, we won't get a say in who replaces her, whether its Charles or perhaps his first born. A future King or Queen is just about to be born this summer !
Imagine if Tony Blair or Dave Cameron, or, God help us, Maggie had said that they liked the job so much, that they were going to stay in it until they died and then pass it over to one of their relatives, whoever that was ?
Why isn't Britain a full democracy ?
