I know that pubs are going out of business fast these days but I wonder if they are bringing it on themselves, I say this because over the weekend I offered to drive so that others in our group could have alcoholic drinks whilst I only had Coke out of those postmix dispensers and was absolutely stunned when the barman charged me £2.10 for half a pint or if you like £4.20 per pint,
bearing in mind that there is NO DUTY on soft drinks this is what I call a total rip off as a pint of real ale was selling in the same pub for £2.90 that's £1.30 less than the same measure of Coke or Lemonade, how can pubs justify this?
I agree, I think they put people off going out with such stupid prices.
We certainly don't go out as often as we used to because of this.
I very rarely drink because of my medication, and I object to paying over the odds for a soft drink.
Thanks for your answers and I'm glad you agree, before I left I had a word with the owner and told him that he had lost me as a customer, if more people voted with their feet landlords might get the message.
Out of the pub game at the moment Tony. Still part time at another pub though, just to keep my hand in.
Nice living in my house again and having days off.
As to the OP, I think it's very short sighted for landlords to milk the non drinkers, although I can see the temptation as there is very little wriggle room with beer mark ups.
My friend was recently charged £1 in a pub for a glass of tap water to have with her dinner. She asked for tap water because she had some rtablets to take.
