When the chief of police says 'we will find them', how much should we trust those words? What has been the past record of the British police in securing successful convictions against terrorist incidents like the IRA bombings in London, Manchester, Omagh, Warrington, Birmingham and endlessly in Belfast. Is this false bravado or has their record been good in actually getting people behing bars (not just arrests as they mean nothing).

Well, we've got an army after Bin Laden and still nothing, so I don't think we have much hope in capturing them. If we do corner them, they'll just kill themselves like they did in Spain. Cowards, utter cowards.
They caught the Birmingham 6 and the Guilford 4
The forensics are amazing. They caught one recent bomber via fragment of bomb timer. I can't wait til they catch these guys!!!!!! Imagine what we'll get! The streets will all be safer, the terrorists will be in jail regretting what they've done, and all future similar acts will be averted because this will act as a deterrent (Not,not and not).

My memory is failing me. Did anyone directly connected to the Omagh bombings (i reckon the last atrocity on UK soil) go to prison for the bombing??. Just cannot remember.
According to Wikipedia, on 26 May 2005, Sean Hoey, an electrician from Jonesborough in south County Armagh was charged with the murders and 32 other explosive and terrorism offenses.

Well, it looks like on the very day you have posted your question, they HAVE got them!

And Bloody good riddance to the ********! Only one thing, lets not bury them honourably as we will be burying the poor innocent souls we have lost. Do not let them be buried as Muslims as they would want. That would be like rewarding them. Bury them as the traitors to this country that they are, and in unholy ground!

Oh, i nearly forgot the one terrorist who seems to have survived. If he is guilty, why not keep him in a dark small cell with daily beatings and torture for weeks on end before finally beheading  the c#nt and sending the footage back to al qi-eda. See how they like it!
quite possibly nothing to do with al-Qaeda, just local would-be heroes. No doubt more will emerge in coming days. Police success in such cases in the past has been mixed - lots of arrests and convictions, frequently of totally innocent people; so take today's news with a pinch of salt until more details become apparent.
The police have leasrnt from the mistakes of the 1970s, and are much more aware of the dangers of falling into the trap of concocting evidence against people like the B6 and the G4.  Also, the science of forensic evidence has advanced many times since then, and valuable information can be obtained from tiny scraps of dirt or blood.
Im sorry jno, i know what your saying but it is quite obviously them. Look at the evidence. They travelled down to London together, Police have cctv footage of them  together at Kings cross before going their seperate ways. Finally, they have personal belongings belonging to them at every murder scene. Come on, let's praise our boys in blue for once. They have done a great job!

And dont forget the cars that are connected to these suspects. They just happen to be full of explosives. Need i go on?

Actually we don't have an army after Bin Laden.  We have an army cleaning up the US's mess in Afghanistan and Iraq.  But they will be caught forensics have moved on a lot in the last few years

I agree with magicbeatle (12th)  but HOW can we deter these suicide bombings? we can't punish them when they are dead and in 'paradise'   We could threaten to take every member of their families and kick them out of the country, then perhaps they will think twice.
