3 Women In Usa Held Hostage.....how?
25 Answers
Not really been following this story but from the news today I don't understand how 3 grown women were held hostage for 11 years by 1 man. Did he never sleep? Did he never go out? Surely these women could have overpowered him at some point. Really don't believe it...must have been Stockholm Syndrome?

I can't believe the interview with one of the Mothers of the missing women "she was missing and we tried for a couple of days to find where she was....then we thought oh she will come home when she is ready..." WHAT??????? so you just left it for 11 years......jeeezus
I gather that was the lady who had a bad relationship with her mother because her mother had gained custody ( against her will) of her small daughter. I think there was a lot of bad blood in the family at the time and it might have been thought she was so upset she had simply gone somewhere to start again so to speak.
//This trend of blaming the victims is unsavoury, to say the least.//
maybe - but according to the FBI about 27% of hostage situations result in victim empathy - "stockholm syndrome", if you like.

Stockholm syndrome is a further problem for the victim to overcome not some sort of 'perk' and excuse for the abuse they have suffered. If someone feels empathy or is in love with their captor after a terrible ordeal like this , it does not mean it's a rational feeling, it means it's a psychological dependence brought on by the extreme trauma they have been through. It's further suffering. I really don't understand victims blamers at all.
