They claim it is "vintage inspired" but the Islands have never been known by the Argentinian name and what's more they have existed as the Falklands longer than Argentina has even existed. Unforgivable surely!

I think there is absolutely nothing wrong with the islands being printed on a globe using their PROPER name. BTW John Lewis Partnerships is a wonderful company, they look after their staff well and have an excellent track record
(and no, I don't work for them). They should be proud to be selling globes printed up like this. I would hope that Tibet is on there too.

Is "Los Malvinas" actually their proper name though? I don't think it is. Wikipedia:
"The Falkland Islands took their English name from "Falkland Sound", the channel between the two main islands, which was in turn named after Anthony Cary, 5th Viscount of Falkland, by Captain John Strong, who landed on the islands in 1690.[1] The Spanish name, las (Islas) Malvinas,[2] is derived from the French name, Îles Malouines,[3] named by Louis Antoine de Bougainville in 1764 after the first known settlers, mariners and fishermen from the Breton port of Saint-Malo in France."

Anyway, the older name is "Falkland Islands".

How can Malvinas be the 'proper name' when these are British territories inhabited by British people who call them The Falklands and have been since the time when most Argentinian ancestors were still in Europe and the idea of colonising in South America and displacing the indigenous people was only a glint in their eye?
Are you trolling? :-)
