Regarding this thread, I also was surprised that it was introduced especially when one of the rules on AnswerBank is as follows.

So I would have thought that there should be no need for a poll on the use of the word 'Bigot' since this would amount to a personal attack and abusive language.

I do wish all the people who claim that they have biblical authority for only-one-man-only-one-woman marriage would just Read their bibles. The bible of the jews and christians actually permits a man to have as many wives as he likes, and allows him to have intercourse with any women servants who happen to be part of his household. Read the story of Abraham and the slave-girl Hagar, for a start.

No it isn't. The AB Editor is not calling those opposing equal marriage bigots.
Also, if you care to look through this thread, you will notice that it has been conducted in a very adult and reasonable manner, with all sides of the argument putting their points across without resorting to abuse.
