Has anyone found a report of this in any other paper?

I only became aware of this protest because it was 'liked' by a friend of mine on Facebook:

http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/local-national/uk/thousands-of-muslims-gather-in-london-to-condemn-murder-of-soldier-lee-rigby-29294815.html

5,000 seems like a fairly decent number...so I can't understand why it wasn't deemed news-worthy. The EDL reaction received media attention, but with far less numbers.

You obviously didn't see him Gromit. He declared himself a Muslim, he was against those who commit outrageous barbarity in the name of his religion and also declared his pride in being British.
Complete silence from Baz Git et all (no surprise there).
Heartwarming story btw.

I'm not sure that a condemnation march could be organised as quickly as a protest at a mosque. Don't the police have to be engaged in order to re-route traffic (etc).

Also, if the Belfact Telegraph (a paper which can only have minimal interest in this story) has picked up this event, it's odd that it failed to generate even the smallest mention elsewhere.

I understand the reasoning behind comments such as "It should've been in Trafalgar Square", but suspect that whatever Muslims do right now will be seen as 'not enough'...
Not the same guy Gromit, can't recall if it was ITV or Sky News, looking for a clip now.
This is him Gromit, can't find footage of him at yesterday's march yet though:

a march can be squared with the police, if they wanted to make a big impact that is where most protests go to. Poll tax, student tuition fees, SA apartheid, you name it. I am pleased they did it, no one disputes that, only they had been more visual.
Gromit, so all Hindus and Muslims don't get on, and you know that how.

Those marches were planned ahead of time though weren't they? This gathering took place only 24 hours after the murder.

Also, I'm not sure whether the fact that this mosque holds 10,000 is relevant - the fact is, this wasn't (from what I've read) a call to prayer. This was a special event.

I think the relationship between Muslims and Hindus echo that of Catholics and Protestants or Jews and Muslims.

There is historical, religious and cultural animosity, even hatred, but like all people, it's not 100% across everyone of the faith.
no info so it's hard to judge. the adoption of the internet, mobile phones can organise people in no time. in much the way of the riots in 2011.
I really don't think this can be termed 'a protest'. It's a condemnation of the slaughter, which is no more than many other mosque leaders have offered. The mosque in question just happens to have an extraordinarily large congregation. It would be good to see the 5000, together with people from all those other mosques, organising a proper march in protest for sometime in the near future. I doubt very much that they will though - but I'd love to be proven wrong.

the fact of all rather threw me.
Naomi and if they did i would be alongside applauding.
Em, Hindus are as different to musims as english to Polish - different cultures
this is but one example of community condemnation reported in the midlands over the past few days by the bbc, the birmingham post and others:-
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-birmingham-22667763
but no rioting, murders here between the two religions. So one assumes they must get on, or deal with one another, our nearest newsagent is run by a Sikh couple, and get mostly Muslim customers.
Retribution can be taken in India or Pakistan between them, Em. Hence they 'rub along'.
Em, //Naomi and if they did i would be alongside applauding.//

I'll meet you there!
I'll be there, on horseback ;)
