No wine in wine gums, no prawns in prawn cocktail crisps but I'm still not taking any chances with cumquats

Unilever Ad campaign from 2002:-

"Not Poodle"

oh, wait........
This... this is news?
if it's still happening, it's still worth exposing. I dont' suppose the crushed insects are horseflies?
But insects have always been used for colouring! It's completely natural and above-board. Maybe people should just learn to read.
Ha ha, that made me laugh, very easy to see how they sensationalise things at the Daily Mail. It was billed as 'an investigation', must have taken all of 5 minutes.

There's no bacon in Frazzles and no prawns in prawn cocktail flavoured crisps???

Astonishing...
oh, you're right, I thought it was actually ckicken and rice, not chicken flavour rice. Changes specs.
Ive actually always assumed that anything that specifies that it is a "flavour" is highly likely to be a manufactured flavour and lacking the actual product, I thought this was widely known and accepted. What did people think were actually in Hedgehog flavoured crisps?
I like the way they keep going on about crushed insects. Cochineal (now known as carmine) has been used for years as a food colouring, particularly for coloured icing on cakes - even in home baking.
..and there's no bears in Gummy Bears. nor wine in Wine Gums, and (gasp!) no babies in Jelly Babies.
Question Author
I've heard of Cochineal, but I thought it was a colouring used in make up.

I see that many of the top rated responses are from Mail readers who are equally shocked that the site thought that this was a justifiable story.

Got to thank a Facebook mate for the link to it.

It is quite funny...
Yes, that was comforting to see -- that Mail readers, while often having views completely the opposite of my own, are certainly able to recognise rubbish just as easily as the rest of us. Newspapers seriously shouldn't underestimate the intelligence of their readers. This is insulting rubbish and most people have seen it for what it is.
You have to be careful buying hot dogs , we like them now and again, check the meat content...some are made from mechanical retrieved chicken. Now that did make me start looking at food labels !
This is stating stuff I thought everyone already knew!
Who do I complain to about my Black Pudding ... and my Belgian Bun ... and has anyone even seen Eccles recently?
.. and French bread...
the French might be shocked to discover what isn't in a pet de nonne, too.
