Why is it that so many people who post on answerbank use it as a platform for their xenophobic views? Fed up with the anti-muslim sentiment expressed on the news pages i sought refuge in the film and tv section only to be subjected to a discussion about illegal immigration on a big brother post! Why are people so mean spirited.

I totally agree, personally I blame all the bl**dy foreigners for it!
Because they're angry and frightned?
It is in the news at the moment, and you can't entirely blame some people for feeling worried about Muslims. The point about AB is that it attracts a wide range of comment; for everyone who's said all Muslims should be deported, there have been two or more who have argued that you can't lump them all in together. Only a very small number of posts are genuinely obnoxious, though a larger number hint at some general distaste for foreigners. Most of them are in the spirit of honest debate, with both sides put, and that's how it should be, I believe.
Xenophobic views??? where? i agree there has been the odd post that has been over the top but If you mean loads of people condemning terrorist murderers who just happen to be muslim then you really should grow up, terrorism is terrorism don't expect the majority to find sympathy in the bombers political reasons, the race issue should not come into it most sensible british people know that the vast majority of muslim people in this country are decent hard working people we should not generalise the entire muslim community as terrorists thats just ridiculous.

The proplem here is the discourse used by the government and the press.  Right from the beggining the muslims were linked with terrorist acts.  It shouldn't have been because alot of terrorism is political in its ideology.  However this was calculated on the part of the government and the press, who go hand in hand.  Now of course you say muslim, people shout terrorist.  I believe that this was a subtle calculated act on behalf of those anti-muslims such as the BNP and others, to create hatred of muslims throughtout GB.

If the same was done with Catholiscism (correct spelling?) during the IRA campaigns then by now you'd have a hatred of Catholics.
