David Icke
There was an interesting interview with David Icke in yesterdays Sunday Times Magazine. I am not able to provide a link here but I expect many people will have read it. Here is a link to his own website ::

Potty ideas, but he's a clever man - and extremely well-read. He's no fool.

I suppose it takes a certain twisted ingenuity to be able to spew forth even total rubbish in a convincing way. But assuming he takes what he says seriously, I think we're dignifying him too much to call him "clever". Well-read, literate, persuasive apparently. But utterly thick if he believes his claptrap.
Never heard of that one Sandy.
Harmless eccentricity is fine, as far as it goes - I worry that it is something of a stretch to describe Icke in such terms though. He has many followers, many of whom have a religous zeal for his thought and utterings, and take them totally at face value. And he has views about everything- conspiracy, healthcare, global warming, all of this - and, because of his charisma and standing with his followers, they believe. This can be dangerous, I think, rather than merely eccentric.
David Icke is at that intersection where harmless eccentricity meets dangerous cult leader, in my view.

Having googled I see it wasn't King George V1 I had half remembered but George King, founder of the Aetherius Society. An easy mistake to make, I suppose.
