The families of soldiers killed in Iraq can sue the government for damages under the Human Rights Act, the Supreme Court has ruled.

Surely if you sign up for the army the fact you may die is one of the risks if you go to war.

Maybe in future anyone joining the army will have to sign a document saying they understand they may die doing this job and therefore cant sue.

Good job we did not have this in the first world war or it could have bankrupt most of the countries in Western Europe.

The ruling does not mean that their Lordships think that the putative claimants have a case. It only means that they cannot be barred from bringing one.
that's why in the RAF mountain rescue if your ropes give way on a climb you are asked to shout 'I resign' on the way down.

Have you not noticed that my username is not initialised ie anotheoldgit, so i cannot understand how you came to make the mistake.
AOG - very simple.

When responding to you, I , as many others, shorten your user name to AOG, for simplicity.

Therefore, in error, I typed AOG, instead of VHG - both having three characters.

Hope that explains.

A.
