Just a bit of fun isn't it. Sadly large floppy hats and stilettos don't suite me otherwise I'd be right in there.
There was a woman in flip-flops, that is pretty casual. :-)

they don't need to - they want to. And in that hat woman's case, for the publicity, which has no doubt done her millinery business no harm :)
You think the royals all know how to dress? Have you seen Beatrice and Eugenie lately?
52 years old, she looks great, not mad on the hat though it's far too big.

As for the rest, it's horses for courses, people can thankfully wear what the like these days.
I wouldn't say John Mccririck is a fine fine example of men's style and there are a number of Royal's who would benefit from sitting down with a stylist.

At the end of the day they have all made an effort and that should count for something even if you don't like it.

"and there are a number of Royal's who would benefit from sitting down with a stylist."

Zara springs to mind instantly in this case.

So, a misogynist as well !
I doubt that they 'need to' aog - they just want to -

and gaining publicity for one's millinery business in one of the most popular tabloids is probably a strong incentive

AOG.....I rarely disagree with you, but on this occasion I must.......in my opinion, mainly, they are smartly dressed and quite "appealing."

Just wait and see the "scouse woman" at the Grand National...they are a sight for sore eyes.
Most of them do look a bit daft, but that's not really the point. They're obviously enjoying the occasion and have enjoyed getting dressed up for it. So there's no harm in it really. There are far worse things in the world to get upset about
I have always seen it as a sort of fancy dress parade.

trigger...LOL...that was the point of my post above.......
'' to go horse racing '' should they not be wearing jodhpurs with their shoes ? :
as has been mentioned, they don't need to, unless they're following the 'dress code' they want to.
What you don't see is the car doors being flung open for them to vomit their champagne into the gutter.
