That goes without saying considering his age.
It seems the life of a truly great man is drawing peacefully to a close.
Well he is very elderly, so not entirely unexpected.
I am of the opinion that folks of a very great age, should be left to pass gracefully and peacefully.
Watch me get banned.
Why on earth do you think you'd be banned for that? I agree entirely.
Why would you get banned?
a life well lived, I think. Few can have achieved so much despite spending nearly 30 years in jail.
This is as it should be. Technology should not be allowed to override nature. Hope he has a peaceful passing.
Well, some would be quick to pull the racist card.
I just think he has done so much, and deserves eternal rest.
A good soul... who will be remembered and missed..
Given his recent medical history and his age, not unsurprising. It will be sad when he goes - dignified man, played a part in changing - well, the world, in some respects.

Not quite sure why ferlew thinks his post(s) will be banned though- seems a tad oversensitive? Cannot imagine anyone thinking your posts could be considered racist.

Not sure I agree with your comment about "technology not being allowed to over-ride nature though", except in the situation of senselessly prolonging someones life.....
It is a shame he is in hospital. He should be at home surrounded by his loved ones and allowed to pass away gently and peacefully. Not in the discomfort of an hospital.
Because the chances are it wouldn't be gentle and peaceful.

He's an old and sick man it's not like he's going to die in a sleep that isn't drug induced.
I agree with you ferlew. At that age and with pneumonia I would want to be let go.
According to an interview that I saw one of his daughters give about six weeks ago he doesn't talk anymore and and doesn't really respond to people around him so this is a natural course his body is taking and he should be made comfortable on his way and not try to ring him back as there isn't much of his spirit left.
elderly, been ill for some time, perhaps it's time, surprised he has lasted this long.
if he dies, I hope it is peaceful and he is surrounded by his family and friends. with no technology to delay his death.
he probably has been hooked to all manner of machines, he would have died i am sure without it, if he has severe lung problems, then breathing apparatus at least.
Yes, I hope when the time comes we can refrain from the outpouring of vitriol that followed a recent high profile passing. I for one am not one of Mr Mandela's worshipers but I won't be rejoicing.
Well I think without Nelson Mandella (and to a slightly lesser extent F.W. de Klerk) the passing of the old apartheit regieme would have been significantly more bloody.

I think that is a remarkable legacy and example to have left the world
